Blight: Survival won’t be out anytime soon. During a June 2025 Discord AMA, the development team confirmed the game “is not launching in 2025 or 2026.” Producer Julien was blunt about it. “It’s still too early to give a release date,” he said. The team wants to “deliver the game you deserve” without making promises they’d have to break later.
The AMA featured Creative Directors Mads and Ulrik, Producer Vincent, Brand Manager Julien, and Community Manager Brandon. They answered over 60 questions from the community, covering everything from lore to combat design. But the biggest news was the timeline.
Open playtests won’t happen until 2026. That’s the first chance most people will get to play. In the meantime, the team is running small, closed playtests with their “Playtest Squad” throughout this year. If you want in on those, you can sign up at bhvr.com/playtest.
Why the long wait? It’s partly due to the development setup. Blight: Survival is being developed, funded, and published by Behaviour Interactive, in partnership with Haenir Studio. Mads from Haenir explained that industry uncertainty pushed them toward this collaboration. “Running a studio, securing funding, marketing, production — it’s a lot,” he said. The partnership helps them “mitigate risk” and deliver the game even in a tough market.
The team also promised to share more gameplay footage moving forward — rough prototypes, early designs, and polished peeks alike. They want to show the process as it evolves, not just a finished product. The full AMA transcript lives in their official Discord channel.
