Funcom rolled out the first iteration of Self-Hosted Servers for Dune: Awakening on May 19, 2026. It’s a complex feature — the devs wanted an early version in players’ hands to test how you actually use it.

“This is a more complex process than in some other games, one of the main reasons we wanted to get an early iteration out was to test it live with our community.”

What You Can Actually Do

The tool lets you host your own World containing the servers that run the game’s maps, from Hagga Basin to the Deep Desert. Right now, you can mess with a bunch of settings:

  • Full PvP servers
  • Adjusted gathering rates
  • Disabling the Sandworm
  • Changing building limits

You keep it to yourself or share it with whoever you want. Full setup instructions are up on Dune Awakening’s site.

What’s Coming Next

Funcom’s hosting a livestream on May 20, 2026 at 17:00 CEST / 11AM EDT / 8AM PDT on their Twitch channel. Michael Søvik, Tools and DevOps Director, and Joel Bylos, Creative Director, will walk through setup and answer questions.

Longer term, the team plans to open up more settings and improve both hosting and in-game admin tools. They’ve already taken notes from PTC testers and are asking for feedback in the Technical channel on Discord.
