Funcom dropped Dune: Awakening hotfix 1.4.0.1 on May 21, 2026, and it requires a client-side download. If the update doesn’t trigger automatically, you’ll need to restart your Steam client. Servers were scheduled to come back up shortly after deployment.

Changes to Character Transfers

The key change here is how character copying works. Players can no longer copy characters to Self-hosted Servers during transfer. Instead, the game moves characters fully—they get deleted from the origin server and land on the target, same as regular transfers. There’s also a new confirmation pop-up. It shows up when you try to transfer a character between worlds but still have vehicles or bases left behind.

The Server Browser got a small UI rename too. The Custom tab is now called Private.

Notable Fixes

The hotfix tackles a bunch of technical and gameplay issues. Here’s what stands out:

  • Fixed a server crash that should boost overall server stability
  • Added measures for servers handling new player influx after Server Migrations
  • Duneman Garage Door now uses the correct model—you’ll need to demolish and rebuild any you placed after 1.4.0.0
  • Watershippers Wide Passageway now requires Granite instead of Plastone
  • Fixed crafting for Combat Exoskeleton Chestpiece, Phantom Whisper Helm, and Phantom Whisper Chestpiece
  • Several unique items like Penetrator, Hook Claw Gloves, and Desert Garb can now be crafted at grade five

Combat got some love too. The Lasgun Concentrator augment was applying its Rate of Fire debuff twice—that’s fixed. The base stamina cost for dashing was set at 40 instead of the intended 30. NPCs were using Suspensor Grenades in Testing Station 195, and their projectiles weren’t properly penetrating the Attractor Field. Both issues are resolved now.

Other Bits

There’s a fix for Feyd’s Spare Blades animation and positioning, plus the Water Shipper Scout Ornithopter Variant interior was displaying the wrong mesh—that’s corrected. For the full list of known issues, Funcom points players to their Discord server or Steam discussion boards.
