ArenaNet made it official on June 5, 2026 — Guild Wars 3 is in development. The announcement came with a debut trailer showing the untamed land of Orr, and it’s a big swing for the studio.
A Fresh Start in Ancient Orr
The game takes place more than a thousand years before the original Guild Wars. You’ll join the Vaelwardens, a guild sworn to protect Orr’s land, people, and nature spirits. Rival guilds are already jockeying for control, so you’re walking into a powder keg.
“This is a passion project in every sense, a leap forward for both the franchise and ArenaNet as a studio.”
Movement, Combat, and Cross-Platform Play
They’re pushing movement hard. You can glide, ride, and wall-run across the open world. Your mount isn’t just a horse — it’s a Seeker, a Vael spirit that connects you to Orr’s magic.
For the first time, Tyria hits PlayStation 5 alongside PC. Combat combines action-RPG positioning with classic Guild Wars build-making. They designed it to work well on both controller and mouse-and-keyboard.
What’s Next
ArenaNet promised more details soon, including looks at the timeline, Six Gods, and the capital city of Arah. They’re also planning a beta in fall 2027. You can wishlist the game on Steam and the PlayStation Store now.
