SLUG: rooted-alpha-firearms-cheat-menu
SUMMARY: Rooted introduces M4A1 and Glock firearms, a training range, and a temporary Cheat Menu for Alpha testers.
The survival game Rooted just got its first guns. On December 6, 2025, the development team pushed a new Alpha update that brings firearms into the game for the first time.
Two weapons are now available for Alpha players: the M4A1 and the Glock. This is an early test, laying groundwork for hunting systems planned for early next year. Alongside the weapons, the update includes improved player animations and more natural weapon handling. The devs plan to add more guns and full attachment support in future updates.
There’s a new place to learn the ropes, too. A dedicated training range sits next to the Mansion, letting testers practice recoil, accuracy, and weapon behavior before heading into the wilderness.
This update also introduced a Cheat Menu for Alpha testers. It’s a temporary tool that enables fast travel, vehicle use, and item spawning. The idea is to help testers cover more ground and give feedback faster while the team builds out the world. The Cheat Menu will disappear once major systems like animals, hunting, fishing, gardening, and dynamic weather are fully implemented.
The team says they’ll keep sharing the Alpha’s evolution as it moves toward the full experience.
