SpaceCraft has smashed through the 300,000 wishlist milestone, and the studio is keeping the demo alive on Steam for all to try.

The Steam Next Fest may be over, but the momentum for this ambitious space-building sandbox is just getting started. Over 70,000 players jumped into the demo, helping it rank among the top 25 demos out of more than 3,500 during the event. That surge pushed total wishlists past 300,000—the highest pre-release count the studio has ever seen.

“We’re incredibly proud to have reached this milestone. This is the highest number of wishlists any game from our studio has accumulated before release.”

Because of that reception, the team has decided to keep the demo available on Steam for anyone who missed the event. And they’ve been busy. Based on player feedback, here are the major changes already live in both the demo and playtest:

  • New settings options: Mouse sensitivity, invert Y-axis, toggle sprint/walk, screen shake disable, full key rebinding, FOV adjustment, UI scaling, and non-intrusive control hints
  • Mining is now performed with left-click
  • Server stability improvements
  • Nearly all known soft-lock situations have been removed, plus ongoing fixes for launch issues

Looking ahead, the team is working on:

  • Ship controls that feel less arcadey and more refined
  • Additional control hints, especially in the Ship Editor
  • Optimizations to reduce stuttering and improve loading times
  • Continued server stability and performance improvements

For players, this means the demo is now a much smoother, more customizable introduction to SpaceCraft’s unique blend of shipbuilding and exploration. It’s a smart move to keep the demo live—letting new pioneers jump in at any time could turn those 300,000 wishlists into a day-one community that’s already familiar with the controls.
