Space travel in Verse Project just got a whole lot more ambitious with the arrival of Stage IV, a major update that finally lets players break free from the station and orbit the Moon.
Developer Verse Project has shifted focus from earlier plans to polish core systems, delivering significant improvements to performance, network code, orbital flight, and combat. While still a technical demo—not a full game—this update offers a taste of what’s to come.
What’s New in Stage IV
- Orbital Flight: You’re no longer tethered to the starting station. Fly freely around the Moon, with a minimum altitude of 80 km and a maximum of 100,000 km. Landing isn’t possible yet, but engine power has been temporarily boosted to make travel easier while navigation tools are refined.
- Orbital Objects: The station now orbits the Moon instead of sitting still. You can find and visit several new objects—two are marked on your navigation panel, while others remain hidden for exploration.
- Close-Range Combat: Equip your ship’s unique weapons and engage other players. Each of the three ships has distinct armaments, and the new Outlaw Roster tracks the most successful pilots (updated after server restarts, usually daily).
- Celestial Body Generation: The Moon’s procedural generation has been overhauled, boosting performance and landscape variety. You can spot surface details from low orbit, even without landing.

What This Means for Players
Stage IV transforms Verse Project from a static hangout into a dynamic space. Orbital flight and combat give you real agency, while hidden objects reward curiosity. The Outlaw Roster adds a competitive edge, but the temporary engine boost hints that navigation tools are still a work in progress.
This update is a promising step forward, but remember: it’s a demo. Bugs and rough edges are expected. For now, it’s a solid foundation that makes the wait for full orbital mechanics and landing feel worthwhile.
